Apple reportedly cuts down Samsung's involvement in iPhone 5 supply chain

Internet is abuzz with reports that Apple's next flagship smartphone, dubbed as the iPhone 5, may not be featuring Samsung's memory chips, displays and other components. Apple has reportedly shifted some memory-chip orders for its next iPhone from Samsung to other Asian chip makers in an attempt to 'diversify' its lines of supply for memory chips and reduce its dependence on Samsung. Samsung, however, hasn't been completely ousted from the iPhone 5 supply chain. Reuters quotes a person privy to the development as saying that Samsung is still on the list of initial suppliers for the forthcoming iPhone 5, which is expected to be unveiled on September 12. The source, who declined to reveal his/her identity, rejected the notion that the move was an aftermath of the patent-war between the two companies, which recently got murkier with Samsung being asked by a US court to shell out more than $1 billion in damages to Apple for infringing upon the latter's patent...

Fake IPhone 5 hits China, Even before its original release

Today in international tech news: Fake iPhone 5s have hit China -- even though real iPhone 5s aren't out yet. Also: a bit of good news for Samsung, which scores a patent victory in Japan a week after its billion-dollar defeat in the U.S.; social media abuse is a hot topic in Australia; Google Maps adds 330,000 miles of European bike trails. China's well-known market for counterfeit goods, electronic and otherwise, has upped the ante: Now you can get knock-offs of products that haven't even been publicly revealed yet. As Mashable points out, a Chinese company called "Goophone" is  advertising a device  that it calls the "iphone 5." The actual iPhone 5 -- the real one, the one made by Apple -- has not been released yet. And even though the Internet is rife with images of mock-ups and supposedly leaked parts, Apple hasn't officially shown the world what the real device will look like. One safe bet for the real iPhone 5: It most probably wi...

Apple rumoured to unveil iPhone 5 on September 12

Leaked Images  of Apple iphone 5 Rumours have been circulating all over the Internet suggesting that Apple’s sixth generation iPhone will launch in September 2012. These rumours have turned into a sort of confirmation if sources close to Reuters and AllThingsD can be believed.  Sources close to AllThingsD have reportedly confirmed that the event is scheduled sometime in the week of starting from the 9th of September, which makes the 12th of September a plausible date for the event. Reuters too has confirmation from its sources about the September event. Apple on the other hand has declined to comment on the situation but all rumours will be put to rest once the Apple Invite finds its way to inboxes.  Recently, purported images of the iPhone 5 were leaked by a Japanese repair shop site, iLab Factory. Whether the rumours are true or not, one thing is certain. Apple is planning something big for this holiday season. Not only is the new iPhone do...

iPhone 5 Photos leaked

With a September release pencilled in for Apple’s new iPhone 5 the rumour mill is churning out plenty of specs and photos. These shots come from iLab and are the result of buying and building from many new parts recently made available. Presuming this isn’t a 3D printed fanboy mock-up – and assuming it isn’t made from parts Apple has released as a decoy – we can expect to see a smaller dock connector as previously  rumored . We can also see that audio jack relocated to the bottom of the phone, and a potentially larger screen – although there's no sign of that fingerprint reader we were getting excited about. The metal plate on the rear also seems to be a recurring feature in the photo leaks of late. You can expect on its purported release date of  September 21st.
