Google has released its latest Android distribution figures, which show the v4.1 Jelly Bean OS is rapidly growing, while the v2.3 Gingerbread OS remains the top Android platform. According to the data, Jelly Bean is now running on 1.2 percent of Android devices, while its predecessor v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is active on about 21 percent of devices. The latest data show the older versions of Android are slowly declining. Gingerbread, the top Android platform, is running on 57.2 percent devices. However, it is down from 60.6 percent last month. Froyo is on 14 percent, while Eclair is running on 3.7 percent. Android v3.0 Honeycomb, Google's tablet-specific platform, is still at about 2 percent. LG has finally announced the list of devices that will be receiving the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. Dispelling rumours that the 2011 LG smartphones will not get the upgrade, the company has announced an ICS update for the LG Optimus 2X, Optimus Black, Optimus 3D, LG Prada and Optimus LTE. LG's Singapore arm announced on  Facebook : “We heard you these recent weeks and would like to share with everyone that our Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) upgrade schedule is set and final details will be announced when they are ready. We are now working to fine-tune the upgrade for a better experience for all our customers.” LG has not yet revealed the data of availability of the update. Sony has announced it will roll out an updated version of the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS to all its 2011 Xperia smartphones. The Android 4.0.4 firmware update will be available for some Gingerbread-based Xperia smartphones as well. The upgrade is scheduled to commence this week. Sony in a  blog post  announced that the update will begin with smartphones namely the Xperia Arc, Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo, Xperia Neo V, Xperia Mini, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active and Xperia Ray. It's notable that the Arc S, Xperia Ray and Xperia Neo V received the Android 4.0.3 upgrade in April. And now the Xperia Mini Pro, Neo L, and Live with Walkman are slated to get the Android 4.0.4, which will be released over the next few weeks. Handsets already running the updated ICS will get a notification to download the update over the air. Good news for HTC One X  and S users! HTC has confirmed plans to roll out out the latest Android Jelly Bean4.1  update to its flagship smartphones   including One X , S and XL. The company, however, has not revealed tentative availability for the update yet. “We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on  Google ’s latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S  to Jelly Bean.
